Is Chiropractic Safe?Because chiropractic is non-invasive, the risk of a serious side effect is extremely low. While most people feel a sense of relief, it is possible that following a chiropractic treatment you may experience mild soreness that should go away quickly. Before you have a chiropractic treatment, ask to discuss any concerns you have with your chiropractor. If you have any severe reactions, lasting effects, or any other concerns, contact your chiropractor.
-
How often do I need to see a chiropractor?Chiropractic is a process, not an event. Treatment for each person is determined based on their individual needs and background. Some patients feel better after one treatment, while others need ongoing treatment to address their physical complaints. Many factors like age, physical activity levels, occupation, genetics can all play a roll in your recovery and overall health. Ask your Chiropractor what best suits your health needs and schedule.
-
What is the 'cracking' that happens with an adjustment? When a Chiropractor administers an adjustment (also known as a joint mobilization), they’re applying a controlled, high velocity (quick) low amplitude (shallow) force to the desired joint. This force is sufficient to stretch the joint, which creates enough space within the joint to form a gas bubble that creates the cracking sound you may hear.

How does Acupuncture Work?Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being. National Institutes of Health (NIH) studies have shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment
-
What is Acupuncture?Acupuncture is the practice of penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles which are then activated through gentle and specific movements of the practitioner's hands or with electrical stimulation. Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners believe the human body has more than 2,000 acupuncture points connected by pathways or meridians. Studies have shown that acupuncture is effective for a variety of conditions.
-
What are the risks of acupuncture? The risks of acupuncture are low if you have a competent, certified acupuncture practitioner using sterile needles. Common side effects include soreness and minor bleeding or bruising where the needles were inserted. Single-use, disposable needles are now the practice standard, so the risk of infection is minimal.

What is cupping?Cupping is an ancient healing therapy that some people use to ease pain. A provider places cups on your back, stomach, arms, legs or other parts of your body. Inside the cup, a vacuum or suction force pulls skin upward. Cupping is a form of traditional Chinese and Middle Eastern medicine. People have practiced cupping therapy for thousands of years. Suction from cupping draws fluid into the treated area. This suction force expands and breaks open tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin. Your body treats the cupping area like an injury. It sends more blood to the area to stimulate the natural healing process.

What are the benefits of Massage?Massage is part of integrative medicine. Medical centers often offer it with standard treatment. It can be used for a wide range of medical conditions. Studies of massage benefits have found massage can: Help reduce stress. Lessen pain and muscle tightness. Increase relaxation. Improve the work of the immune system.
-
What can I expect from my massage? It's common to feel relaxed, tired or even sore after a massage. This is because your muscles are being worked by the massage therapist. After a massage, it may feel like you completed a workout. It is possible to experience a headache or nausea after a massage. Some people think that massage must hurt to help. But a massage doesn't need to be painful to be effective. If your massage therapist is pushing too hard, ask for lighter pressure. Occasionally you may have a sensitive spot in a muscle that feels like a knot. It's likely to be uncomfortable while your massage therapist works it out. But if it becomes painful, speak up. Most serious problems come from too much pressure during a massage.
